About DWU
Founded in 1985, Deaf Women United (DWU) is a national organization that is dedicated to serving Deaf women by providing resources that connect these women to the empowerment of themselves and others through advocacy, education, and outreach. Deaf communities are spread out, making it even more crucial to develop opportunities for networking where information can be exchanged. Ultimately, these opportunities will enhance the quality of all Deaf women’s lives.

Deaf Women United aspires to be a significant contributor to the community of Deaf women from all walks of life, and this is accomplished by recognizing, valuing, and embracing their additional identities. You can take part in accomplishing the goal of empowering Deaf women with us. We offer numerous ways of getting involved. Explore our features and get in touch.

We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
Our Vision
At Deaf Women United (DWU), our vision is to create a world where Deaf+ and Hard of Hearing women are empowered to lead, thrive, and inspire. We envision a society where accessibility, equality, and representation are the norm, not the exception.

We strive to:
• Empower Deaf Women: Foster leadership, confidence, and independence in all aspects of life.
• Create Community: Build strong networks where Deaf women feel seen, heard, and supported.
• Celebrate Diversity: Honor the unique experiences and contributions of Deaf women from all backgrounds.
• Advocate for Change: Champion accessibility, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for Deaf women everywhere.
Together, we are paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future—one where every Deaf woman can achieve her fullest potential.
